You tought modelling the world into 3D is hard? Well, soon it won't be hard anymore, but more easy. Creating 3D surfaces will be possible just by using a flash camera.
The scientists at the The University of Manchester's School of Computer Science and Dolby Canada developed a new technique that is making that possible as it "might make capturing depth and textures for 3D surfaces as simple as shooting two pictures with a digital camera--one with flash and one without".
